2015
Acquire a trauma care ambulance
Safety
SAC aimed to acquire a fully functioning intensive care unit ambulance to be available for its sporting events, as well as the future rescue training programmes that the organisation would be involved in. The project, which benefited from an ambulance donated by an NGO, involved repairing and painting the vehicle, equipping it with all necessary medical kit and appointing and training the six drivers, paramedics and doctors – two of each – that would be needed to safely and correctly operate the vehicle at motor sport events.
2016
Driver safety equipment and circuit improvements
Safety
SAC planned to buy new driver equipment for use in rallying and to encourage more participation in the sport. Equipment would include helmets and overalls, as well as seatbelts. The aim of the programme would be to encourage more drivers and co-drivers to participate in safe rallying through providing them with the necessary equipment. At the same time, the ASN would reinstate the control tower at its circuit to further encourage motor sport activities.
2017
Purchase of karts and timing equipment
Safety
Purchase of timing equipment and karts and associated officials training and re-launch of karting races. 15 participants per karting race are taking part in 2 or 3 races. The aim of the activity is to provide facilities and equipment to develop motor sport through provision of an affordable and accessible option.
2018
Installation of karting circuit lighting system
Motor Sport Development
Installation of lighting system for karting circuit to enable races to take place at night. The aim of the activity is to increase the number of motor sport events at grassroots level. Installation of this system will help to grow motor sport in the country.
2019
Kart circuit management training
Motor Sport Development
Development of the karting circuit for karting, speed tests and drifting, training on how to properly run the circuit including Train the Trainer (8 participants for the training element). The aim of the activity is to have a permanent karting circuit in Syria which will attract a new generation of drivers to the sport and also generate some revenue to help with future development. The ASN is aiming to have the circuit up and running for 2020 with a view to starting a national championship in 2121. They will work with FIA RTP ATCL to train the officials and develop championship regulations as well as with a well-known kart circuit in Lebanon to train officials in circuit management and kart operations.
